03 — Preparation
Site Preparation
Verify these requirements before unpacking.
Choose a Flat, Stable Surface
Clear of sharp objects or debris. The surface must support the weight of the tub when filled.
Ensure Good Ventilation
Room ventilation is essential for cooling speed. Leave a minimum of 1 metre of unobstructed space in front of the chiller fan. The Vitalis is rated to work outdoors as well — place under shade if preferred for comfort.
Proximity to Power & Water
Position near a power outlet and a water source. A nearby drain is beneficial for maintenance.
Unpack & Position
Unpack the tub, tub cover, and flow controller. Place the chiller unit with its fan facing toward an open area.
Flat surface, clear of debris. Chiller fan facing open space with 1 metre clearance. Power outlet and water source accessible.
04 — Tub Setup
Inflate Tub & Cover
Inflate both the tub and the protective cover.
Connect the Inflation Pump
Attach the inflation hose to the “INFLATE” port of the Dual-Action Inflation Pump.
Prepare the Valve
Unscrew the valve cap on the tub. Ensure the internal valve pin is in the OUT (depressed) position to prevent air from escaping after inflation.
Inflate to 8–10 PSI
Connect the hose with a quarter-turn and inflate until the pump’s gauge reads a maximum of 10 PSI. Do not overinflate.
Secure the Valve & Repeat
Secure the valve cap. Repeat the process for the protective tub cover.
Secure the Cover
Place the inflated cover on the tub. Clip all four buckles to secure the cover in place.
Inflating the Performance Immersion Tub
Tub inflated to 8–10 PSI, walls rigid and standing upright. Tub cover inflated. All valve caps secured. All four buckle clips fastened. Tub stable on the surface.
Maximum 10 PSI. Overinflation can damage the drop-stitch construction.
05 — Plumbing
Connect the Hoses
Three color-coded hoses connect the chiller, flow controller, and tub. Match colors at each port.
Position the Flow Controller
Place the flow controller between the chiller and the tub.
Seat the O-Rings
Ensure a Water-Seal O-Ring is correctly seated inside each pipe and joint before connecting. Use 6 O-Rings for the pipes, and an additional O-Ring for each extra joint (e.g. 90° adaptors). You have 4 spares.
Connect the 90° Joints
Attach the 90-degree pipe adaptors pointing toward the color-coded ports. Green to green, red to red, yellow to yellow. These adaptors help in tight spaces and keep the setup compact.
Connect the Hoses
Connect the matching-length hoses between the chiller, flow controller, and tub. The hoses are identical — as long as the length is suitable all around, you’re good.
Hand-Tighten Only
Hand-tighten the threaded collars clockwise. The connection should be snug but not forced.
Excessive tightening with tools can cause water leaks. This is the number one issue leading to leakage — the O-Ring becomes deformed and is unable to provide a water-tight seal. Hand-tight is all that’s needed.
All three hoses connected, color matched. O-Rings seated in every pipe and joint. Collars hand-tight only — no tools used. Flow controller installed inline between chiller and tub.
06 — Water
Fill with Water
Fill the tub to just above the upper connection port.
Use Your Water Source
If you have a pipe system that reaches the tub, use it directly.
Or Use the TubDrainPro
If the water source doesn’t reach, use the TubDrainPro:
- Connect the pipe to the TubDrainPro and place the other end in the tub
- Place the TubDrainPro into a pail and position at the water source
- Switch on the tap
- Connect the TubDrainPro to power and switch on
- Confirm water is flowing into the tub
Fill to the Correct Level
Fill to just above the upper connection port. This is the fill indicator — the second port from the top of the tub.
Water level is just above the upper connection port. Both ports submerged.
07 — Power On
Power & Flow Test
Connect power and start circulation.
Connect Power
Connect the covered extension cord to the power outlet. Plug in the Vitalis Chiller Unit and the Flow Controller. Close the extension cord lid tightly.
Power On the Flow Controller
Switch on the Flow Controller. You should observe water flowing through the system and coming out strongly. This pump is designed for continuous, 24/7 low-power operation to keep water fresh.
Flow Controller running. Water visibly flowing through the system. Strong flow from the return port.
08 — Verification
Check for Leaks
Inspect all connections while the system is running. Use a dry cloth to distinguish between leaks and water splash from installation.
Wipe & Inspect
Use a dry cloth to wipe around every hose connection, the flow controller, and all joints. Check if water reappears — that indicates a leak rather than installation splash.
If No Leaks
Move on to the next step. Your plumbing is sealed.
If You Find a Leak
First, try hand-tightening the connection further. If the leak continues:
- Switch off the Flow Controller
- Plug the leak temporarily with your hand, cap, cloth, or plug to slow water flow
- Check the O-Ring — the most common cause is overtightening, which deforms the O-Ring and pushes it into the threading inlet
- Readjust the O-Ring to sit snugly, then gently reattach the joint by hand only
- Switch the Flow Controller back on
- Repeat until no leaks remain
All connections dry. No water reappearing after wiping. System running leak-free under pressure.
09 — Cooling
Start the Chiller
With water circulating, bring the chiller online.
Switch On at the Power Source
Switch on the chiller unit. Press the power button until you see the ice crystal symbol appear on the display. If another symbol shows, press the Mode or Settings button to switch to cooling mode.
Wait for the Fan
Wait approximately 1 minute. The system runs a 90-second diagnostic sequence, then the fan should turn on. You’ll hear a gentle hum as the compressor engages and begins cooling.
Ice symbol visible on display. Fan running after ~1 minute. Compressor hum audible. Temperature display showing current water temperature moving toward target. Installation is now complete.
10 — Smart Control
Connect the App
Control your Vitalis remotely by connecting to the Tuya Smart Home or Tuya Life app.
Download the App
Download Tuya Smart Home or Tuya Life from the App Store or Google Play. Switch on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone.
Disable Child Lock
Hold the power button on the chiller to ensure Child Lock is disabled.
Enter Pairing Mode
Press and hold Setting and Up Direction simultaneously for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi symbol appears on the display.
Add Device
Open the app. Select “Add Device.” Allow permissions and enter your Wi-Fi password. Connection takes a minute or less.
Vitalis appears in the app. You can see the temperature and control the chiller remotely. Set schedules and manage the system from anywhere.
